Nickel-Niobium

Nickel Niobium 60% finds its main application in the production of nickel based superalloys and special nickel steels. Niobium improves the mechanical properties, the weldability as well as the creep resistance of super alloys and steels. The large difference in melting point between the base metal and niobium makes it difficult to add pure niobium to the bath. Added as a master alloy, Nickel Niobium dissolves very easily. Its melting temperature is similar to or even lower than the normal operating temperature. The master alloy is also being used for adding niobium to copper nickel alloys to improve the mechanical properties, for example in cryogenic applications.
